Dan Foster’s death throws the entertainment industry into mourning

Idol, Nigeria Got Talent judge

The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning by the death of ace-broadcaster, radio presenter, and Nigeria Got Talent judge, Mr Daniel (Dan) Foster.

Dan Foster, who goes by the moniker Big Dawg, reportedly died earlier today of yet unknown cause.

Foster, an American, relocated to Nigeria to Nigeria, where he lived with his Nigerian wife and children, until his death on 17th June 2020

He crisscrossed the airwaves working with Cool FM, Inspiration FM, and Classic FM, among others, where he endeared himself as an impresario of music and bundle of talents.

In 2007, Foster was a judge on the one-off Idols West Africa series, alongside Nigerian Dede Mabiaku and Ghanaian Abrewa Nana. During the show’s run he was compared to American counterpart Randy Jackson, although he received some criticism for not attending the Ghana auditions.

He was also on Nigeria’s Got Talent alongside actress Kate Henshaw and comedian Yibo Koko.

Audu Maikori of ChocolateCity, said of Foster’s death, “I never got to meet this great Man in person. We spoke once on the phone; but he was the quintessential All around Radio Superstar- professional, charismatic and very inspiring.”
