Blues continue splash

High spending Chelsea Football Club are close to taking their summer splurge to £230million with the expected purchase of Rennes goal keeper, Edouard Mendy.

The club is still not done as they are poised to capture West Ham’s defensive midfielder, Declan Rice

Sport journalist Fabrizo Romano said in tweet on Friday, Chelsea are now close to sign Edouard Mendy from Rennes.

“New bid submitted on last hours and club ‘confident’ to complete deal on next hours.

“Personal terms already agreed. He’s pushing to leave and join #CFC… and he’s getting closer.

“After signing a new goalkeeper, Chelsea will consider a move for Rice,” he said.

Chelsea have already spent heavily to bring in Hakim Ziyeck from Ajax, Timo Werner from RB Liepzig, Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen as well as Ben Chiwell from Leicester City.

The club also snapped Thiago Silva from PSG and two other players on free transfer.
